Hey travel geeks! Halloween is almost here, and I’m digging into the photo vault for a throwback. (Translation: I didn’t get to a park this October, so we’re time-traveling. Bring a flashlight.)
Picture this: a warm Florida evening in late October 2022, just after 7 PM, walking up to the front of Magic Kingdom. The first thing that grabbed me wasn’t a ride. It was a giant grinning jack-o’-lantern sitting in the middle of a flower bed like it owned the place. Honestly, it might.

Then I looked up at the train station. Disney had gone full haunted-house mode. Fog was rolling across the front, the whole building was washed in spooky blue, and the windows glowed purple and green like someone was holding a séance upstairs. The clock tower kept changing colors while I snapped away: green, then white, then purple. Yes, I took about a dozen near-identical photos. No, I’m not sorry.

The 50th anniversary decorations were still up, so Mickey and Minnie topiaries were posing out front. Mickey in the fog is a whole mood.

Halloween park tips
A few tips if you’re heading to the parks around Halloween:
- Go at dusk. The decorations really show off after dark.
- Look for the pumpkins. There was more than one, including one wearing a jaunty little hat. Fashion icon.
- Be patient with night photos. Phones get blurry fast in the dark (ask me how I know). Brace your arms and take several shots.
- Budget for the small stuff. Snacks and souvenirs add up. Prices change, so always verify before you go.
