Sealed Nintendo Switch 2 The Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary console box

First Look: The Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 (Boxes Only… for Now)

Hey travel geeks! Today we’re trading boarding passes for a different kind of adventure: a Hyrule-sized one. My Zelda 40th anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 just landed, along with the matching Zelda Pro Controller, and yes, they are both still sealed. (Not opening them right away has been tough, but the big unboxing is happening after my vacation.)

First impressions: the boxes

This is a box-only first look, so no unboxing just yet. Even so, the packaging makes a strong case for itself. The console box leans into deep greens and gold, with the Triforce front and center and a bold “40th” badge in the corner. It feels like something you’d find at the end of a dungeon, not on a store shelf.

The Zelda Pro Controller. No, I haven’t opened this one either.

The Pro Controller matches the theme with the same gold-and-green look, so the two make a very handsome pair side by side. If you’re the kind of collector who keeps the boxes (hi, it’s me), these are display-worthy on their own.

Why a travel geek cares

A Switch is basically the official travel buddy of long layovers and overnight trains. I’m already picturing a few hours in Hyrule on my next flight. (Window seat, snacks, and zero judgment, please.)

What’s next

The full unboxing is coming soon, once I can bring myself to cut the seal. Should I open it, or keep it boxed for the collection? Tell me in the comments. It’s dangerous to decide alone!
